Coal Ash Hearing Scheduled In Knoxville
09.23.10 8:48 AMAfter intense criticism of EPA for not scheduling a public hearing in or near Roane County, the site of the largest coal ash spill that received international attention, EPA has decided to hold a hearing in Knoxville on October 27, 2010. The purpose of the hearing is to accept public comments on the co-proposed rules to regulate coal combution residuals. One proposal would regulate coal ash as a hazardous waste, but called a special waste. The information on the hearing is as follows:
TIME: 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
DATE: Wednesday, October 27, 2010
PLACE: Knoxville Marriott, 500 Hill Avenue, SE, Knoxville TN, 37915
The hearings will continue past 9:00 p.m. if necessary. Pre-registration is available online. Walk-ins will be accommodated when time allows and written comments will be accepted the hearing. The agency will consider the public's comments in its final decision.
