Department of Justice Gets Conviction for Factory Demolition

The Department of Justice today issued a press release announcing the conviction of David Wood, Donald Fillers, James Mathis and Watkins Street Project LLC, for illegally demolishing the Standard Coosa Thatcher Plant on Watkins Street in Chattanooga while still containing large amounts of asbestos.   Regardless of the issues, this case is a good example that prior to demolition of property the air pollution control authority (either TDEC or locally authorized program).  Sentencing is yet to come.
