The EPA wants to know your thoughts.  The Agency is currently seeking public comment about priorities for the national enforcement program, and has created an online discussion forum in an effort to receive maximum amount of input.  Specifically, the EPA wants to know what the public thinks should be the focus of its compliance and enforcement efforts.  Click here  to submit your own comments.

The first opportunity to comment will close on September 30, 2009, and will seek to develop input on how to shape EPA’s direction for 2011 to 2013.  The second round of comments is expected to begin in the fall and will remain open until December 1, 2009.  Generally, EPA sets “national enforcement and compliance priorities every three years that direct work toward the most pressing environmental problems.”  According to EPA, all comments will be evaluated and considered for recommendation to Lisa Jackson, EPA Administrator.

The priorities for 2008 to 2010 are air toxics, industrial facilities air emissions, sewer overflows, CAFOs, financial responsibility for hazardous waste site clean-up, Indian Country, mineral processing, and stormwater.
