posted by

EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson announced today belt tightening proposals by the Obama Administration for the FY 2012 fiscal year budget

The following ares will receive a significant decrease:

Great Lakes Restoration ($125 Million decrease)
State Revolving Loans ($947 Million decrease)
Superfund Cleanups ($1.2 Billion decrease)

But these items will receive a sizeable increase:

Enforcement and compliance ($27.5)
Reducing Chemical risks ($16.1 Million increase)
Assistance to states and tribes in implementing new pollution requirements ($84.9 million increase)
Greenhouse gas (GHG) initiatives ($46 million)
Chesapeake Bay initiatives ($67.4 million)
Research and innovation into new and emerging environmental science ($584 million)

So, there will be winners and losers.  Certainly fodder for discussion.
