USEPA Sets Greenhouse Gas Reporting Deadline
03.17.11 10:39 AMAfter discussions with industry and other stakeholders and to promote the quality of data provided to the public, USEPA has issued a final rule extending the deadline for reporting 2010 emissions data under the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting Program to September 30, 2011. As we reported in a previous blog post, the original deadline was March 31, 2011, but on March 1, USEPA had announced its intention to extend the deadline.
Under the GHG Reporting Program, entities required to submit data must register with the electronic GHG reporting tool (e-GGRT) no later than 60 days before the reporting deadline—for this year, the registration deadline is August 1, 2011.
These extensions will allow USEPA and facilities to test the electronic reporting system and provide feedback before submitting the required data. The data will help guide policy decisions and the development of future programs aimed at reducing these emissions, and also help industries and businesses find ways to be more efficient and cost-effective.
