Water Wars in West Tennessee?

Mississippi has requested that the United States Supreme Court decide whether Memphis is unlawfully using water shared with Mississippi.  In its court filing earlier this month, Mississippi alleges that Memphis has taken “up to 22 percent of its water supply” by taking up to 24 million gallons of water each day. The suit further alleges that wells in Memphis that tap into the aquifer have created large depressions in the water table.

This lawsuit comes after 5th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Glen H. Davidson threw out the lawsuit in February on the basis that the state of Tennessee should have been included as a defendant.
